What’s the Genealogy of Jesus?
In two places in the New Testament the genealogy of Jesus son of Mary is mentioned. [Matthew 1:6-16] and [Luke 3:23-31]. Each gives the ancestors of Joseph the CLAIMED husband of Mary and Step father of Jesus. The first one starts from Abraham (verse 2) all the way down to Jesus. The second one from Jesus all the way back to Adam. The only common name to these two lists between David and Jesus is JOSEPH, How can this be true? And also, How can Jesus have a genealogy when Christians believe that Jesus was born miraculously without a father?
In my earlier question, as to what was Jesus’ last words, the replies I received, many say that the same incidents were reported differently by different people, for e.g Mathew, Mark Luke and John differ in the way they report incidents during Jesus’ life. Ok fine. Can one’s genealogy be reported differently? Come on, you have to be fair at times!

the one in matthew is of jesus as the adopted son of joseph.
the one in luke is the line of mary as a descendant of king david
this line of mary shows jesus is from king david and can rule on the throne as a rightful heir of king david
the female gives birth to the sons that can legally take the throne
he has a genealogy because he was in human flesh.
He is adopted by Joseph as his son. A adopted person can legally inherit the family’s name and any property.
Mary’s father was heli.
Luke, designing to show that Christ was the seed of the woman, that should break the serpent’s head, traces his pedigree upward as high as Adam, and begins it with Ei, or Heli, who was the father, not of Joseph, but of the virgin Mary.
